F.A.Q.s

1. Who is the mastermind behind Eat Local Philly?

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/dcrdesign/headshot-100.jpgEat Local Philly is owned by Jo-Lynne Shane, a married mom of three who lives and works from home in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.  Jo-Lynne is committed to supporting the local food economy, and she has spent many hours searching out local sources of produce, meat and dairy (and occasionally wine too).  Jo-Lynne has lived in the Philadelphia area for 15 years.  She has lived in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties, and she has spent much time seeking out local foods in those areas as well as parts of Berks and Lancaster Counties as well.  Eat Local Philly is a place for her to share their finds.  However, she can’t do it alone.  Your submissions are coveted!

Jo-Lynne is well known in the blogosphere for her personal blog, Musings of a Housewife, where she chronicles her life juggling 3 kids, 4 blogs, a blog design business, and the laundry.  She also runs the Philly Social Media Moms email group, and she writes for various online magazines.  In her spare time, which is dwindling by the day, she likes to cook, read, shop, jog, and photograph her kids.  Follow her on Twitter at JoLynneMusings.

2. What areas does Eat Local Philly represent?

Eat Local Philly represents Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. Basically, if it’s within a day trip of Philadelphia, it’s fair game.

3. I see my site is on Eat Local Philly. I appreciate the shout-out, but I’d really prefer not to have my information on your site.

No problem. Use the contact form to let me know, and I will remove my post promptly. Please let me know if you ever change your mind.

4. I just discovered Eat Local Philly, and I own a local family farm that sells our homegrown meat and produce. Can I apply to be featured on your site?

Hi there! I’m so glad you found us.  We prefer to post about places we have visited personally.  That said, I’m always looking for new places to explore.  I’d love to come by and meet you and check out your farm, and it’s likely that I will end up writing about my visit.  Otherwise, any locally owned business is welcome to purchase ad space on Eat Local Philly.  Feel free to contact me for ad rates.

5.  Hi.  I run a local family-owned restaurant.  Do you include restaurants on your site?

We do write about restaurants that source their food locally. Additionally, any locally owned business is free to purchase ad space on the sidebar. Contact me for rates.
