Turkey Time!

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, now’s the time to start thinking about where you’re going to get your turkey. There’s no reason to buy factory farmed turkey at the grocery store when you live in Eastern Pennsylvania. There are turkeys happily grazing on farms all around us!

Here is a list of sources for local turkeys in our area.  You may need to order ahead to be sure to get one, so don’t waste any time!

Rent A Runner Now and Piper Hill Farm are delivering turkey orders to Exton on Wednesday, November 24th.  Hurry; orders are due by November 7th.

Livengood Family Farm is now accepting orders for Thanksgiving turkeys. Delivery will be on November 20 to the Upper Merion Farmers’ Market.  A $10 deposit reserves your bird.

Canter Hill Farm in Malvern offers Thanksgiving turkeys, as does Red Haven Farm in the Kennett area.

Kimberton Whole Foods is currently taking orders for local turkeys at all four area locations.

Pikeland Pastured Poultry in spring City is raising a fresh batch of turkeys on grass in time for Thanksgiving Dinner.  A $20 deposit is required.

Check out Woodsong Hollow Farm in Boyertown.  Order here and pick up at the Boyertown Farmers’ Market or call 610-473-8938 to arrange pick up at the farm.

Or drop by the Lancaster County Farmers’ Market in Wayne and see the folks at Lapp’s Country Market.

Merrymead in Lansdale sells fresh, local, all natural turkeys, never frozen, with no growth hormones or artificial ingredients.  Call 610-584-4410 to order.

Barefoot Meadows is processing fresh turkeys on November 23rd. You can pick them up on November 24th at the Glenside Farmers’ Market. Visit them at the market on Saturday to place an order.

Linvilla Orchards in Media is taking orders for Thanksgiving pies and turkeys.  Call 610-876-7116 to place your order.

If you live in Bucks County, Bucks County Taste has a slew of sources for local turkeys.

Finally, if you’re in Jersey, two farms at the Collingswood Farmers’ Market are selling Thanksgiving turkeys:

Springdale Farms (856-424-8674) You can order a fresh, hormone- and antibiotic-free turkey locally raised on Griggstown Quail Farm in Princeton. It will be available for you to pick up the week of Thanksgiving at Springdale’s FARM location in Cherry Hill (not the Market location.)

Hillacres Pride Farm (717-548-9031) is offering Pennsylvania pasture-raised turkeys. Turkeys must be pre-ordered at the market and you pick up the weekend before Thanksgiving. A $20.00 deposit is required.

Don't be shy! We'd love to hear from you.  Leave a comment if you have anything to add to this post.  Got questions?  Leave those in the comments too.  We'd be happy to answer them.
